How Does Sculptra® Work?
At PRICK’D Med Spa, your Sculptra® journey starts with a comprehensive consultation to determine your skin concerns and aesthetic goals. Sculptra® is made from poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that has been used in medical treatments for decades. Upon injection into the deeper layers of your skin, it acts as a collagen stimulator, triggering your body to rebuild its own structural support over time.
Sculptra® procedure typically takes 30 to 45 minutes. Through the use of a thin needle or cannula, our experienced injector strategically places Sculptra® where there is a loss of volume or skin thinning. Unlike dermal fillers that deliver immediate volume, Sculptra® works gradually, with visible improvements developing over 4 to 8 weeks as collagen production increases. Most patients benefit from a series of 2 to 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart for optimal, long-lasting results.
Sculptra® Pre & Post-Care Instructions
To get the most from your Sculptra® experience, it’s important to follow these simple steps:
Pre-Treatment Instructions:
- To minimize bruising, avoid blood-thinning medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil for 24 to 48 hours.
- Refrain from alcohol the night before your treatment.
- Arrive with a clean face—free of makeup, lotions, or oils.
- Inform your provider of any medical conditions, recent dental work, or skin issues near the treatment area.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
- Within the first 24 hours, apply a cold compress every hour for 10 minutes to reduce swelling.
- To distribute the product evenly, the treated area should be gently massaged for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, saunas, or intense exercise for at least 24 hours.
- Do not apply makeup for at least 12 hours post-treatment to allow the skin to heal.
